Creative Hymn Playing Workshop - Stephen Price Masterclass

Stephen Price (Paul B. Fritts Faculty Fellow, University of Washington) will give a Master Class on hymn playing and hymn arrangements. Organists or pianists who would like to coach with Dr. Price are invited to play during the class. Please prepare 3 verses of a hymn, with an introduction. If you have never played in a master class, now is your chance!  Any skill level is welcome.  To sign up, please email Cathryn Wilkinson at cathryn@churchintheforest.org by May 10th. The organ is Casavant Frères Ltée., Opus 3730, 1994, 25 ranks. All are invited to sing along to the hymns (no registration required to attend, observe and sing).

Dr. Price is the Paul B. Fritts Faculty Fellow and head of organ studies at the University of Washington School of Music. He was an Organ Scholar at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Buffalo, New York and attended Western Connecticut State University. He received a Fulbright Scholarship to Toulouse, France to study "Historical and Modern" performance practices of French organ music. He holds the Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees from Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Dr. Price is represented by Seven Eight Artists. His debut album, Paris Impact Organ Suites, is available on the Raven recording label.

Lunch and conversation will follow the class.
