Pedals, Pipes & Pizza
Our Pedals, Pipes & Pizza event at Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church on Saturday morning, Feb. 8, was a resounding success — thanks to an enthusiastic and talented group of AGO organists and friends. We welcomed 14 piano students (ages 8-16), along with many of their parents, for an engaging, educational and inspiring morning of organ music and activities. Throughout the PPP morning, we had a variety of exciting presentations and hands-on activities — introducing SVPC's large pipe organ, showing students/parents how the organ works, performing some exciting organ music, guiding tours of the organ-pipe chambers upstairs, helping students build (and play) the Orgelkids organ kit, and giving each piano student time on the organ bench to play one of their piano pieces on the large pipe organ. Playing SVPC's enormous pipe organ was a favorite highlight of the morning for both students and parents! Everyone was also amazed and delighted to hear two talented young organists, Walter Mitby and Elizabeth Kamas, perform. We ended our morning with a pizza lunch in SVPC's Fellowship Hall, where everyone enjoyed delicious food, socializing, and playing/listening to music on the Orgelkids organ. Many thanks to all our AGO organists and friends who led, taught, performed, encouraged, helped, and inspired the piano students (and parents) throughout our PPP event!
